Lakeside trail, Bald Eagle State Park

I found out a couple of weeks ago that the most interesting part of the Lakeside Trail at Bald Eagle State Park is closed, ostensibly to protect some eagles.
Most of the trail along the shore is open, but it seems like the whole top side is closed. I didn't have access to the area by the campground, so I couldn't see that.
I wish the signs were posted at the beginning of the trail, as opposed to 3/4 through! Now you know :-)
The trail was much wetter than I recalled it in previous hikes, but it was after that long spell of rain we had.
